On September 8, 2023, Zhang Ping, chairman of the Board of Directors of Beijing Energy International, met with Warwick Smith, chairman of Global Engagement Committee of Business Council of Australia in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on the strategic development and market expansion of Beijing Energy International. Jia Geng, vice president of Beijing Energy International, and Guo Liang, general manager of the Overseas Business Department attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Warwick Smith first introduced his participation in the seventh meeting of the China-Australia High-level Dialogue on September 7, 2023. He said that the development of Beijing Energy International in Australia’s clean energy field has helped upgrade local energy industry and achieved both social and economic benefits. The company’s business development and subsequent strategic layout in Australia have attracted the attention of many investors, and it has become an energy company with impact in the Australian market. It is hoped that the company will continue to increase its investment in clean energy in Australia to support the global energy green and low-carbon transformation.

Zhang Ping welcomed Warwick Smith’s visit and thanked him for his support in the business development of the company in Australia. He said that its holding and lock-in installed capacity in Australia exceeds 2 million kilowatts, and it has become the largest Chinese company in the field of clean energy in Australia. At the same time, the company is expanding its investment in Australia to the upstream and downstream sectors of the industrial chain, such as energy storage and retail business of electric power. At present, related business are going through a critical period. It is hoped that Warwick Smith can extend the company greater support to elevate its overseas business to a new level, so that it is able to achieve the goal of holding installed capacity of overseas clean energy exceeding 3 GW in the Tenth Five-Year Plan period as soon as possible.
