Recently, Beijing Energy International successfully won the bid for the Fangcheng 300MW agrophotovoltaic project in Zhanyi District, Qujing City, Yunnan Province. This is the largest single capacity photovoltaic project of Beijing Energy International in Yunnan Province, marking another major breakthrough in developing new energy in southwest China.
The project has a total installed capacity of 300MW and a total investment of about 1.5 billion yuan. It adopts the agrophotovoltaic mode to increase agricultural income and energy power generation, which not only creates the social benefits of energy conservation and emission reduction, but also effectively improves land utilization as well as the employment and income of local villagers and fulfills social responsibilities with pragmatic actions. This is a low-carbon pathway to revitalize the rural area and improve farmer’s income. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to produce about 420 million kWh of green electricity per year, save about 131,200 tons of standard coal, and reduce about 313,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which will promote local economic development and environmental protection, and significantly contribute to the transformation and upgrading of energy structure in Yunnan Province.
