On July 4, Zhang Ping, Chairman of the Board of Beijing Energy International, was invited to attend the second session of 2024 Tengchong Scientists Forum, Scientist-Entrepreneur Dialogue. This event, organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, brought together five academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 40 prominent entrepreneurs who have significantly contributed to the development of Yunnan, and representatives from local governments including Qujing, Chuxiong, and Dali. The participants engaged in deep discussions and offered suggestions for promoting high-quality development in Yunnan.
During the forum, Zhang Ping provided an overview of Beijing Energy International’s overall development in Yunnan and outlined the company’s future plans. He highlighted that the company currently has a total of 1.51494 million kilowatts of clean energy grid-connected installed capacity in Yunnan, with projects under construction amounting to 793,000 kilowatts. In 2023, the company paid over 100 million RMB in taxes within Yunnan. Zhang also shared on the progress of plans to expand and issue REITs using the Baoshan Sujiahekou Power Station and the Songshanhekou Power Station as underlying assets. He emphasized that the company regards Yunnan as a strategically important development area and, with the support of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, will continue to expand the clean energy market in Yunnan, contributing to the achievement of the province’s dual carbon goals.
After the meeting, Wang Yubo, Deputy Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Yunnan Province, met with a delegation of entrepreneurs led by Ma Weihua, Chairman of the China Entrepreneur Club and Chairman of National Fund for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (NFTTC). The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on implementing the important speech by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the National Science and Technology Conference, leveraging the leading role of academicians and experts in technological innovation, and the innovation of enterprises. They focused on Yunnan’s unique advantages and development needs, aiming to promote the implementation of more scientific and technological achievements and industrial projects in Yunnan, accelerate the development of new productive forces, and build a modern industrial system. The participating entrepreneurs expressed their optimism about the vast opportunities in Yunnan and committed to actively promoting the establishment of relevant industrial chains in Yunnan to support the high-quality economic development of the province. Academicians Rao Zihe, Bian Xiuwu, Wu Yuzhang, Deputy Governor of Yunnan Wang Zhengying, entrepreneur representatives, and officials from relevant provincial departments attended the symposium.
