(Shenzhen China, January 14, 2017) - On January 13, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect New Opportunity Forum and 2016 “Golden Hong Kong Stocks” Awards Ceremony were held in Shenzhen. During the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect New Opportunity Forum, Mr. Li Yuan, Chairman of Photovoltaic Green-ecosystem Organization (PGO) and CEO of United PV, was invited to give a speech. He said that climate change has made a catastrophic impact around the world and the environmental protection should be put into actions without delay. In 2016, the signing of the “Paris Agreement” has set specific objectives in dealing with climate change. As the largest pure solar power plant developing and constructing Company, United PV cooperated with the United Nations Development Programme (“UNDP”) to build Panda Power Plant, which is an innovative solution in response to climate change problem, and also a demonstration that United PV is taking social responsibility and making effort to build our green homeland.
Panda Solar Power Plant is the clean energy power plant designed and constructed according to the image of panda, the Chinese national treasure. Having Panda Power Plant as the carrier, United PV will cooperate with UNDP to support the national strategy of “One Belt, One Road”, and work with international photovoltaic technological representative companies to build solar power plants in countries alongside “One Belt, One Road”. Panda Solar Power Plant will also promote the clean energy among the youth, enhance their social responsibility awareness, and encourage them to join hands in dealing with climate change in advance and help promote environmental protection through a series of activities held by Untied PV and the United Nations. The world’s first Panda Solar Power Plant was launched in November 2016 in Datong, Shanxi Province. It is a practice of executing the Paris Agreement, turning proposal into implementation and a concept into action. It also demonstrates that United PV has been devoted long to dealing with climate change and taken its social responsibilities towards it.
At the beginning of 2017, the New Year came along with a serious smog in China, resulting in frequent flight delays, traffic accidents, and a significant increase in the number of children suffering from respiratory diseases. Children go to school all wearing heaving protections and walking in a hostile environment with low visibility, cheers and laughter can be heard no more. It is urgently required to put Blue Sky Call into immediate action.
Providing clean electricity is another way that United PV fulfilled its social responsibility. In 2016, the Company’s annual electricity generation reached approximately 1,341,993 MWh, which is able to meet the demand of a full year electricity use of nearly 750,000 households, which is equivalent to saving 440,000 tons of standard coal, reducing 1.15 million tons of carbon dioxide emission or 671 tons of soot emission; also approach to reducing 11,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emission or 10,000 tons of nitrogen oxides emission, equivalent to planting 62.92 million vegetation.
During the speech, Mr. Li Yuan appealed to the whole society to join hands in environmental protection. He believed that every little step is making a difference. All of us should ask our children to participate in it, to popularize anti-smog knowledge, and to have confidence, making our homeland more beautiful with blue sky and green mountain.
