On December 14, 2023 of Beijing time, BJEI Australia officially announced in Sydney, Australia that it had reached an agreement with Lightsource BP on the acquisition of its 1GW asset package.
The assets to be acquired are distributed in areas with concentrated power demand such as NSW, Victoria and Queensland, including 522 MW of assets already in operation, 515 MW of assets under construction and energy storage assets under development. It is estimated that after all the projects are completed and launched into operation, they will generate more than 22,300 GWh of clean energy power to Australia every year, supply power to more than 380,000 local households, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 1.695 million tons.
The deal is a critical step for the company to realize its overseas business strategy during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, which reflects its strong confidence in the development of Australia’s renewable energy market. In recent years, the company has continuously participated in the renewable energy development in Australia and supported the country’s energy transformation.
After the completion of the deal, the installed capacity of new energy assets managed, operated and under construction by the company in Australia will exceed 2 GW, and the local asset management scale will exceed AUD 3 billion, marking a new era of its investment and business in Australia.
