On 6 August 2017, Alan Li, CEO of Panda Green Energy, with the team went to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and visited the giant panda exhibition area, nursery house, scientific discovery center and other places. In the giant panda exhibition area, they visited the playful little baby pandas, the cute adult pandas, the calmly and joyful older pandas and some returning pandas from abroad. With the staff’s accompany, they adopted a giant panda named Qiyi.

Qiyi is a female panda born on 1 July 2016 and has a twin sister called Qiguo. Qiyi has an energetic characteristic that she would easily stay close to human and even go hugging them. In February, an adorable video that Qiyi was hugging someone’s legs went viral on the Internet and received more than 1 billion views, making Qiyi a genuine internet celebrity. Ever since there, there was a saying spreading among the people: knowing Qiyi(one part) but without knowing the rest. The year of 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return. Born on 1 July, the same date as Hong Kong's return date, Qiyi is selected as the mascot of Panda Green Energy, a Hong Kong listed company, will be presented as the most amiable and adorable image, and bring the benefits of green energy to all people and the whole world.

Not only the favorable national treasures in China, giant pandas are also welcomed as international envoy in supporting the sustainable development to promote the protection of endangered rare animals like giant pandas. In January 2016, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) officially appointed a pair of twin pandas Qiqi and Diandian as the first animal ambassadors in history to help promote sustainable development goals. Climate change and human activities’ damage on the environment have taken our planet to the limit.
